Dorothy "Dot" Richeson Turville 1917 ~ 2008 Dorothy "Dot" Richeson Turville, age 91, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the home of her daughter and has reunited with dad.Born June 24, 1917, in Logan, Utah to Ernest Lee Richeson and Rosamond Tressa Kent, second of nine children. Dorothy married Harold Erwin "Bud" Turville May 17, 1941, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Fort Warren LDS Chapel. Their marriage was later solemnized October 23, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As a young child, Dorothy lived in Arco, Lost River, Idaho for a few years then moved to Imbler, Oregon where she completed her school years graduating in 1935 from Imbler High School and was asked to give the valedictorian talk. Her mother made her a pretty rose colored taffeta dress with ruffles on the bottom. Dorothy's message to the senior graduating class of '20 was "The only way to have friends is to be one." She was student body secretary, secretary of home economics and president of her glee club and participated in dramatics, basketball, baseball and volleyball. She also liked to collect poems. Dorothy was popular and beautiful and was selected queen of the Gold and Green Ball in La Grande, Oregon in 1936. She was an active member of the LDS church where she held many positions. She was a den mother while her boys were in scouts, a teacher and counselor in the primary and teacher in the Sunday School and Relief Society. In her later years, she worked in the LDS temple extractions program translating German. Dorothy was also secretary in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Rosslyn Heights branch where she made lasting friendships. Dorothy loved her children and grandchildren very much! She especially loved all the little babies. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend! She cared for and worried about us and she found special ways to show her love to each of us! Dorothy loved to make quilts, crochet afghans, bake her famous apple, pineapple pies and raisin cookies as well as make homemade mustard pickles and homemade applesauce. We dearly love you, Dorothy! Your love and gentle ways will always and forever remain with us in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, parents, brothers, Ernest Lee Jr., Albert Eugene and Robert Kent Richeson, a brother-in-law Donald Barraclough and a sister-in-law Lorene Richeson. Dorothy is survived by her children, Harold Dennis (Anndra Harris), Paul Turville, Roger (Linda Holfeltz), LouAnn Gearhart (Mike), Kristine Christensen (Dale) and Janice Blaylock (Rob); 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Mary Barraclough, Elva (Wilford) Zaugg, Irene (Bud) Herrman, Janet Child; brother, James Steven (Renee) Richeson and sisters-in-law, Eloise Thomas Richeson and Illa James Richeson. Five hours after Dorothy's passing, her younger sister Irene Herrman passed away at the age of 85 in Sparks, Nevada. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m., at the Parleys 4th Ward, 1870 E. Parleys Canyon Blvd (2250 S). A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Friday evening, Sept. 19th, from 6-8 p.m. at the Ward. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S.
